WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE INITIAL CONSULTATION
When you come in to the office for your initial consultation, we will discuss a number of important issues relating to your case. These topics generally include:
- A discussion of the facts and circumstances which have brought you into the office.
- A Review of the general law which relates to your facts and how it might be applicable to you.
- The identification of any relavant time-frames or deadlines which affect your case, and whether, if applicable, any hearings have been set.
- A Discussion of what your immediate and long term goals are in relation to your case, and the development of an action plan in order to accomplish those goals.
- Any other questions you may have. |
WHAT TO BRING TO THE INITIAL CONSULTATION
In order for us to have a constructive initial consultation, it is important that you bring as much relevant information with you as possible. This generally includes, at a minimum, the following:
- If someone has already filed a case against you, you will need to bring all of the paperwork that you have received relative to that case, including all pleadings, orders, and notices of hearing.
- The names, addresses, and birthdays of each immediate family member.
- Information regarding the work history and income of yourself, your spouse or significant other, and any child that is working who still lives at home.
- If you have children, each address at which you have lived with the children for the past five years.
- Identifying documentation of debts and assets of a marriage.
- Any information or documentation you believe to be relevant to your case, such as emails, letters, diaries, etc.
This is a general overview. When we speak to arrange your initial consultation, we will discuss your case specifically in order to identify more clearly what information you should bring. |
